6 Modular Women's Self Defense Course in Boston, MA

Women's Self Defense Defences On The Ground During A Boston Course The SEPS Female Self Protection Program is made up of five components, each component is taught as a separate class and when combined together make up the complete course and with it a comprehensive women’s self defense system. Each of these distinct segments provides both self-protection information and specific self-defense techniques; presenting the knowledge you need to keep you safe as well as the physical techniques that are required when this knowledge isn’t simply enough . These classes/components can be taken in any order (and at any time) allowing you the opportunity to take them at your convenience and schedule them according to your work, family and social commitment. Each of these classes/components runs at least 5 times a year.

There are specifid Redman testing Days as well allowing you to keep your skills up throughout the year. With the ability to keep re-taking classes and doing Redman training you effectively get a years worth of training for $125. The various components and what they cover are detailed below.

Component 1 – The Dynamics of Violence

This component explains and describes the timeline on which aggressive and violent situations against women occur. Students are introduced to the 5 distinct phases that any violent situation consists of (including the “SEPS Synchronization of Movement” – and how to identify it) and given a brief introduction to the subject of “Victomology”, looking at why some women are identified as targets of violence by predatory individuals.

Students are taught how to control and manage range, simple and effective blocking techniques covering all angles of attack and basic break away techniques should they be grabbed. They are also introduced to the “SEPS Artillery Concept of Striking” – the application of military thinking on how to choose weapons and how to decide upon targets.

Component 2 - Sexual & Financial Predators

Women's Self Defense Scenarios - Car Jacking - At A Boston Course This component looks at the four different ways aggressors, including sexual and financial predators use in order to launch attacks and make assaults. This component as a particular emphasis on the methods that rapists use to disarm women as to their true intention. The subjects of date and acquaintance rape are introduced and discussed along with appropriate defensive tactics for dealing with them.

The self-defence component of this section looks at common holds and controls that such predators use along with how to act and behave in mugging scenarios where a weapon is involved.

Component 3 – Developing The Survival Personality

The “SEPS 3D Loop” that explains why most people freeze in the face of aggression is looked at and tactics that can be employed for dealing with it. NDM, Naturalistic Decision Making is introduced so students learn the military techniques that allow defense force personnel to make quick and effective decisions whilst under high stress and emotion.

In this component students learn the principles of striking and how they can use their body weight to deliver effective and powerful strikes.

Component 4 – De-escalation & Disengagement

In this component the idea of the Triune Brain is looked at along with the “SEPS 5 Responses To Violence”. In this component students learn to identify and categorize different types of violent situations and decide upon effective solutions to deal with them. Why certain individuals engage in violent acts is also discussed and how to best deal with them.

The physical techniques of this component focus on ground survival (in SEPS the use of the term groundfighting is avoided as when a fight goes to the ground it is definitely a matter of survival).

Component 5 – The Situational/Contextual Factors Affecting Violence & Aggression

Violence doesn’t happen in a vacum; there are always situational factors that affect decision making and dictating choices made. How you will respond when your child is present or when you are in your home will be markedly different from how you may respond whilst on your own and/or on the street. The SEPS 5 Situational Components are introduced and various scenarios presented which show how one situation elicits a particular response whilst a change in one factor might elicit another.

Pre-emptive striking is looked at and the various legal ramifications of using such strikes are discussed. It is in this section that CS Spray is introduced and the correct means of deploying it are taught.
